legends and history; contains Mahalia Jackson Theatre of the
Performing Arts, Perseverance Hall, Municipal Auditorium and
Congo Square.
Jackson Square
- Between Decatur, Chartres, St.
Ann and St. Peter Streets, is Jackson Square, the heart of New
Orleans since its founding in 1718. The Square, is center
pieced by a statue of Gen. Andrew Jackson which is surrounded by
paths, benches and gardens.
