Mardi Gras World -  233 Newton St.,  Algiers, 362-8211 -  A look behind the magic of Mardi Gras a showcase of carnival, with thousands of sensational sculptured props and breath-taking giant figures by premier Mardi Gras float maker.   Open 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. daily

Jackson Barracks Military Museum - 6400 St. Claude Avenue, New Orleans, 278-8242 Louisiana National Guard museum displays artifacts, weapons and memorabilia from every major American war including tanks and military aircraft.  Open 7:30 a.m. till 4:00 p.m. M-F, 9:00 a.m. till 3:00 p.m. Saturday. Free.

New Orleans Museum of Art - 1 Collins Diboll Circle, New Orleans Museum of Art, 488-2631 Located in City Park.  One of the nation’s largest and most important art museums features permanent collections and major touring art exhibits.  Open 10-5pm Tues – Sun; closed on legal holidays.  (Admission fee)

Rivertown U.S.A. - Williams Blvd. and Jefferson Hwy., Kenner, 468-7228  - Small town “Main Street” setting on Kenner riverfront featuring three blocks of museums, including; Mardi Gras Museum, Children's Castle, Louisiana Toy Train Museum Louisiana Wildlife Museum and Aquarium, New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame, Rivertown Repertory Theatre, Science Complex, Observatory and Planetarium, Space Station Kenner, Fine Art Gallery, Cannes Brûlée Native American Village, and  Kenner Heritage Park
